Hi all! I'm new to the forum and semi-new to American Girl dolls. I've had a few dolls for a while, got them about 10 years ago [when I was a kid]. They've been in storage for a while and I've recently brought them out to display them. When I looked at my Kirsten doll, I saw that one of her eyes was completely colorless. Here's a photo:

I guess there's no way to fix this on my own. How do I go about getting it fixed? Can I send her somewhere? Thanks a lot!

Contact AG customer service. Your doll has "silver eye" a manufacturing defect that is covered by teh company.
They will have you send her to the hospital and they will fix it for you at no charge.
They may fix the eye or, most probably replace the head. You may need to inquire about it if you do not want to get the head changed
Good luck!

Yeah it is called silver eye and the doll hospital will replace the eye or head for free. I had to send an Addy in for the same thing.

Also, that is one of the best pictures to give an example of silver eye I have ever seen!

Thanks guys, I'll look into the doll hospital. Do you recommend getting an entirely new head or just fixing the eye? Are newer heads any different from older ones?

Oh the pre-Mattel vs Mattel debate!
Depends on what you like.
Also on how is your doll's hair! If she has seen better times, this is your chance to get a new whole look on AG's tab!

The thing that is most likely to be noticeably different is the texture of the eyelashes. That is the biggest pre-mattel, mattel thing I can see.

The faces vary between slender and chubby as well.

My Kirsten (and Molly) are bothing showing signs of silver eye... but I don't want them to get new heads.

I actually PREFER the newer heads. They will have black eye lashes though which sorta bugs me on the lighter haired dolls.

However if the hospital puts in new eyes, those eyes will probably have those eyelashes as well.

I'd just go for the new head myself.

A new head is what the hospital will do if you do not specify anything else. Also be sure to enclose a check only for return shipping,so that way they can't charge you for the cost of the head replacement on accident.

Ask if they will fix only the eye--post-Mattel hair is different, too. If you are used to only pre-Mattel, the sudden change could be something of a shock.

P.S. Welcome to the board!!
